Hi folks. It’s September 27th and today, I have an important Youtube video for you to watch. If you are a ham radio operator you know this and how important it is to be ready for an emergency, such as a severe weather event. https://youtu.be/6O9J7m7QEB4?si=tm93DRJPo1gmACki
It is also 10 years ago today, when I became a part of Facebook and would join my first WX radio group less than a month later. Since then, I had become an admin and had created my own group, relating to this blog and well, there is the email address too, but that is a different beast.
One more thing, recently there have been Weatheradio Canada outages and the reason for this is because a router is being replaced at the site and there may be some differences with how our local WXR’s sounds at the end of it. However, it will be worth the couple of hours of no broadcast. Yesterday, they were in Niagara Falls, today they are in Toronto and tomorrow they will be in London, to do this important work. So far, the only thing that is any sort of problem is that the station ID for the Niagara WXR has been missing on the broadcast, since it had come back to life. I will be detailing it and maybe what had happened with Toronto today, in the November Weather Radio Listeners Newsletter post. I hope that listeners in London know about this impending work on their WXR tomorrow, otherwise they will be complaining. Perhaps, I will have to spread the similar message to this, on another Facebook page for another group, which consists of hams. Anyway, let’s see how our radios are doing when it comes to weekly test alerts.
Buffalo KEB98 (162.550 MHz) (RWT) 11:00 AM EDT.
Toronto (XMJ225 162.400 MHz.) (RWT) 12:02 PM EDT, St Catharines VAD 320 (162.475 MHz) (RWT) 12:02 PM EDT. Note, VAD 320’s station ID had returned just before the RWT had gone through at the same time as XMJ 225.
