Hi folks. This is the December 2020 WX radio test alert report. Finally, we can be rid of this year of this foul pestilence, which has completely disrupted everything we do in our society. COVID-19 and the pandemic has torn us from each other and turned the whole of society upside down and unfortunately, with a vaccine, it won’t be going away just like that. COVID will show its mark on all of us for a long time, whether it is mental or financial. We will still be Physically and socially distanced from each other for the foreseeable future, probably until enough of us are inoculated and we can start getting close to each other again. How many of us remains to be seen but, I hope that those of us in Canada can maybe stop living like this and begin to interact with each other, like we did in the good old days.
On the finantial end of the pandemic, maybe you have lost your job and it wasn’t one which could allow you to work from home, or you have been stopped from working, because you had become sick. Whatever the case, this pandemic will surely leave its mark, long after it has ended and I’m not even going to mention the sharply higher prices of things which we purchase every day, which could be a reality. Or, you have been easily scared by the main stream media and how they focus on the pandemic and the negative aspects, such as people being infected or dying and leaving those who have recovered either out of the story, or at the very end after you have turned off the radio or TV. Yes, we have learned to be kind to each other and have otherwise become more flexible, in how we get in touch with each other. Think of the rise of Zoom and how it has become a normal way of meeting, instead of physical get togethers, for lunch or otherwise.
Yes, this foul pestilence otherwise known as coronavirus has single-handedly ruin the society and culture we have created over thousands of years and now, we rebuild. Thankfully, this blog has not been touched except for the lack of issues of the newsletter. They will return as soon as the vaccine is being rolled out to enough people, where we can start talking about issues related to Weatheradio Canada and NOAA Weather Radio and not just posting test alerts each week. Also, COVID regulations must be either relaxed or completely lifted, in order for any new issues of the newsletter to be published. This is because some of what we talk about involves interaction, whether it is digitally (by email or social media) or physically (i-e) CANWARN or SKYWARN training sessions and other ways of getting together with each other, as social beings. We need to be completely clear on when we can get close to each other, without the fear of being fined or making each other sick.
In the mean time, we will continue as we are right now and I will be posting on social media, when a new issue of the newsletter is coming. Also, keep an ear on the news as to when restrictions are lifted and on that note, I won’t be publishing a new issue until all of North America is free of being distanced from each other, dew to public health regulations. I may even stop these reports for a time, if there is no clear answer given, as to when we can get close to each other again. However, that will be rather unlikely so, consider this a last resort by me. One other thing could possibly stop both these reports and the newsletter and that is, the decommissioning of any of the 48 WXR’s in Canada, which had been proposed to be taken off the air back in late August. If Toronto goes, I can no longer do this or report on Weatheradio Canada’s occasional problems properly and the newsletter will be gone too. So, if this comes to fruition, that could be the end of this too. So, now that I’ve drawn myline in the sand you know where I stand, when it comes to Weatheradio Canada. It has to stay as it is and expand, rather than contract. I could name any example of cutting a whole in something and the object in question, eventually collapsing, because of the lack of structure. Need I say more, or do I need to paint more of a mental picture for you, who are reading this? … … I hope not!
So, without further ado let’s get on with the report and say goodbye and good riddance to 2020
Anyway, I hope we are all healthy and safe, as well as warm and dry from the winter weather. Let’s hope 2021 is tons better than 2020 was.
